Snowshoeing and winter hiking are some of the best ways to get outside and enjoy the beauty of winter. An awesome, low-impact way to stay in shape while enjoying the serenity of quieter winter trails.
This is a 7 mile, beautifully serene winter trail with a grand reward (well that is if you like mountain gawking)!
Description: *The road to the trailhead is closed seasonally, so we'll have the chance to warm up our legs and get comfortable in snowshoes with our first mile being on a snow covered road.* Our adventure begins on the Four Mile Creek, with its valley of lovely meadows. From here, we'll start a short but moderate ascent through a beautiful pine forest, which will eventually open up into a meadow with views of Pikes Peak. As we meander through the meadow, we’ll be greeted by large aspens and rocky spires. The trail ends on the top of a rocky outcropping with spectacular views of Pikes Peak and the Rampart Range to the East and the Mosquito and Sawatch ranges to the West.
