Difficulty: Moderate/Difficult

Location: Silverthorne, CO

A 14+ (depending on parking) mile moderate to difficult hike leading to the breathtaking Upper Willow Lake, nestled under the Zodiac Ridge of the Gore Range.

Description: Our excursion will start on North Willow Creek which we’ll walk alongside most of the way. The trail traverses a steady but moderate incline through lodgepole pine forest, offering shade and often covered with wildflowers. There are several incredible lookout areas as we make our ascent offering views of lake Dillon and the mountains on the Colorado divide. Eventually, we cross the creek and take in views of a cascading waterfall nestled in lush foliage. Here we’re also greeted by a sneak peek of what’s in store. While this hike is a beauty from start to finish, the final mile is really something to behold! Lakes, meadows, and streams, oh my! As we sit and take in the scenery at Willow Lake, we’ll refuel our bodies with lunch and celebrate our success before we make the long trek back down.
